Tampa. Fla. (WFLA) — Today will be slightly drier, with only a 40% chance for scattered afternoon and evening showers. The showers may start earlier along the Nature Coast, but later showers will be over our inland counties.

Temperatures will be hot, climbing into the low 90s under partl cloudy skies. The humidity will be (typicallay) formidable. The evening will be slow to cool, thanks to the mostly drier conditions.

Sunday’s rain chances are higher, but the day starts off dry. Showers will boild offshore during the morning, but not much of it will make it to our coast. The primary chance for showers fires up along the east coast sea breeze and marches across the state during the afternoon. As the showers approach our coastal counties, they grow in intensity and coverage. I am concerned that the Bucs game may see some rain.

Next week we return to our late afternoon, and evening chances for widespread downpours.

The tropics remain unusually quiet for this time of the year, we are currently monitoring two tropical waves but no other activity. One wave has a medium chance to develop once it overs the Yucatan peninsula and enters the southern Gulf. It will most likely impact Mexico. The other tropical wave only has a low chance to develop over the mid-Atlantic. If it forms, it will most likely be a fish storm.
