    Largo woman arrested, accused of stealing $2,400 exotic baby bird

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Largo woman was arrested Sunday after she was caught on camera stealing an exotic baby bird from an Oldsmar pet store Saturday morning , the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

    Deputies were called to Everything Birds in the Oldsmar Flea Market at 180 Racetrack Road just before 10 a.m. after a woman allegedly stole an exotic baby bird.

    Surveillance video showed the woman, Grissel Flores Nistal, 54, browsing the baby bird section before reaching into the petter, removing the Black Headed Caique from its container, and placing it in her large purse before leaving the store.

    The bird is reportedly worth $2,400.

    After two citizens identified the 54-year-old as the suspect, detectives went to the woman’s home, where she agreed to return the bird.

    The Black Headed Caique was returned to the owner and was in good health, deputies said.

    Nistal was charged with one count of felony grand theft and was taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
