TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The storms will fade slowly after sunset, making for a muggy but otherwise quiet evening. Temperatures will make it down into the mid to upper 70s overnight.

Once again, heavy afternoon and early evening downpours expected tomorrow. Some of the showers drift back toward the Gulf of Mexico around sunset, but taper quickly.

We keep the rain chance at 60% through Wednesday, and then the coverage of rain drops slightly for the end of the week. Most of the rain that does form will be in the afternoon each day.

Highs remain in the low 90s into next week.

The tropics are more active now, and we do have Potential Tropical Cyclone 6. It should strengthen in the western Gulf of Mexico and may make landfall on the northern Gulf Coast as a potential hurricane. Overall, there is little impact from this system on the Tampa Bay area.

Two other tropical waves have a chance to develop in the open Atlantic. The statistical peak of hurricane season is tomorrow, September 10.
