TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Rain chances increase quickly this afternoon, and there’s a 60% chance of downpours later in the day. Some heavy rain develops mainly east of I-75, and the storms drift back toward the Gulf of Mexico in the evening as they taper off.

We keep 60% rain chances in the forecast tomorrow afternoon, and the chance drops slightly to 50% Thursday and Friday. Some drier air in the upper levels of the atmosphere will limit rain chances to 40% this weekend.

We are tracking Tropical Storm Francine in the Gulf of Mexico that should make landfall tomorrow along the Louisiana coast as a hurricane.

Two other tropical waves have a strong chance to develop in the Atlantic but will likely stay out to sea.
