    Police rescue baby turtles near Florida parking lot

    NAPLES, Fla. (WFLA) — Newly hatched baby turtles were rescued from a Florida parking lot last month, the Naples Police Department announced.

    In a video shared on the department’s Facebook page, Master Officer Jesse Granese, Officer Yasmin Pacheco, and Officer Kylie Goodbred are seen helping the new hatchlings make their way into the ocean.

    “Late Saturday night, several newly hatched baby turtles were found near the parking lot of Via Miramar Beach, heading in the opposite direction of the water due to the lack of moonlight,” the Facebook post reads . “Master Officer Jesse Granese, Officer Yasmin Pacheco, and Officer Kylie Goodbred assisted with turning the confused hatchlings around and guiding them to the ocean.”

    It is currently the nesting season for sea turtles in Florida, which runs annually from March through October according to Florida State Parks .
