    Tropical Depression Francine moves inland bringing heavy rainfall: NHC

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tropical Depression Francine moves farther inland over central Mississippi bringing heavy rainfall across Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle.

    According to the National Hurricane Center, Francine is about 15 miles north-northeast of Jackson, Mississippi.

    A turn north-northeast is expected for Tropical Depression Francine that will decrease it in speed. Maximum winds are 35 mph with higher gusts.

    Francine is now a tropical depression and expected to downgrade to a post-tropical cyclone during the day, according to NHC.

    All Storm Surge Warnings and Watches have been lifted.

    Francine is expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of rainfall to portions of Mississippi, eastern Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. Up to 12 inches are possible in portions of Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and Georgia, according to NHC.
