TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County man is walking away with $1 million after playing a scratch-off game he bought at a Tampa 7-Eleven, The Florida Lottery announced Thursday.

Jamarr Lewter, 39, of Thonotosassa, won by playing the $50 scratch-off game, $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

Lewter bought the lucky ticket from 7-Eleven, located at 8305 West Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. That retailer will get a $2,000 bonus commission for the sale.

The $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life, and 234 prizes of $1 million. The game’s odds of winning are 1-in-4.5, the lottery said.

Since its inception, scratch-off games have generated nearly $62 billion in prizes, and more than $19.24 billion for Florida’s Education Enhancement Trust Fund.
