JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A police officer in Jacksonville was arrested on armed kidnapping charges Thursday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced.

JSO said Brian Housend, a 17-year veteran, was arrested by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and is facing charges of armed kidnapping, written threats to kill, and aggravated stalking— all felonies.

“I want it to be clear that this agency stands in solidarity with the victim of these horrible crimes,” Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said.

JSO said the victim was not harmed.

Following his arrest, Housend was suspended from the force without pay and will be fired, according to the sheriff’s office.

This marks the 13th arrest of a JSO police officer this year, the fourth of which was handled by an outside agency.
