A driver wanted for an alleged hit-and-run in Victorville was forcefully tackled after a California Highway Patrol pursuit ended in East Los Angeles Friday afternoon.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, traveled through a variety of Southern California cities, including Rancho Cucamonga, Norwalk, Commerce and Monterey Park.

CHP officers stayed on the tail of the large white SUV, which topped 100 mph at times and exited and entered freeways multiple times in an attempt to elude the pursuers.

It’s unclear what time exactly the pursuit began, but it ended at about 2:30 p.m. after the vehicle went airborne speeding over drainage channels and crashed down hard onto the street, visibly damaging the SUV to the point that it appeared undriveable.

The driver, who appears to be a woman, hopped out and tried to run, but she was apprehended within seconds as a CHP officer pulled up alongside her and roughly tackled her to the pavement, possibly grabbing her neck or hair in the process.
