LAKE WALES, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman who is no stranger to Polk County deputies was arrested for robbing a Lake Wales fish camp.

The woman, only identified as Melissa, stole various power tools and other items at the camp’s recreation hall, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

After photos of Melissa committing the crime were circulated among deputies, one deputy recognized the woman, since she had been to jail “a time or two. Or ten,” the sheriff’s office said.

The woman, who was later found on Fast Trot Trail, told authorities that the hall was left unlocked and she thought it was public property. She then claimed she didn’t remember what she did with the items she took.

“We know one thing she didn’t do with the items—leave them alone.”

Melissa was arrested and taken to jail on charges of burglary and petit theft.

Maybe she needs more time behind bars to think about the people in the community she’s hurting.
