LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — An Auburndale man was arrested after giving a false name to deputies after falling out of a boat, Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Sunday, Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a call about two boaters falling into Crystal Lake in Lakeland. Another man jumped in with pool noodles to save the two boaters, according to PCSO.

Timothy Lanthrip, 36, gave a false name to deputies after they were both checked out by medics, according to PCSO. Deputies later found out his true identity through his fingerprint.

While I don’t agree with lying, I can understand the risk/reward ratio.
