PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — An 11-year-old was arrested Tuesday for allegedly threatening a mass shooting at Lakeside Christian School in Pinellas County, authorities said.

The child reportedly sent a threatening text message to a group of students that said “ONG I MIGHT SHOOT UP DA SCHOOL, JS WATCH, NOVEMBER 4,” according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the threat was reported on Tuesday morning. Detectives learned the threatening message was sent on Aug. 15.

The student was arrested and charged with written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting. They were taken to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.

Schools across the Tampa Bay area have seen an influx of threats over the last several weeks. There have also been instances of students found with weapons on school campuses.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about any threats to contact 727-582-6200.
