NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) — Deputies are investigating a shooting in North Port near the Charlotte County line.

Both directions of US-41 were shut down near Cornelius Boulevard and South Salford Boulevard due to law enforcement activity.

Anthony Gooden, 56, was identified as the suspect, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Gooden and the victim were reportedly involved in an argument before gunshots were exchanged.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gooden on two counts of second-degree aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, first-degree discharging a firearm in public, third-degree grand theft of a firearm, and second-degree shooting at/within or into a dwelling or building, deputies said.

“All parties are accounted for and there is no threat to the public,” a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office social media post stated.
