Remains of missing 63-year-old man found alongside highway in Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The remains of a 63-year-old man who went missing earlier this month have been found after authorities were called to a suspected hit-and-run crash last week.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers were called to U.S. 301, north of State Route 50 to investigate the suspected hit-and-run.

While on the scene, deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office found the remains of the 63-year-old Dade City man. He had been reported missing since Sept. 8.

The remains were identified as the missing man on Sept. 20 and his family was notified, FHP said.

Troopers said it’s unclear when the crash occurred.
