Courtney Campbell Causeway, Gandy bridges closed during Hurricane Helene

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Courtney Campbell Causeway and the Gandy Bridge have been closed due as Hurricane Helene impacts the Tampa Bay area.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the bridges are closed due to high winds and storm surge.

Drivers were asked to find alternate routes if they need to travel.

However, officials urged civilians to stay off the highways unless “absolutely necessary.”

Two other major bridges, the Howard Frankland Bridge and Sunshine Skyway Bridge, were also closed due to severe weather conditions.
