HUDSON, Fla. (WFLA) — In Hudson Beach, Hurricane Helene’s floodwaters rose rapidly Thursday.

Ambulances and firetrucks stopped at the water line as people remained in their homes along the canal.

“I went all the way back there about 9-10 o’clock and it was already 3-4 feet up the beach,” one man said as he escaped the floodwaters. “By the time I got up here, it had already rose another two feet.”

“Within the last hour, it rose another 4 feet,” he continued.

Zane Petree spent Thursday afternoon at Hudson Beach Park.

“Think about helping people,” he explained. “We need a better system for these people, it’s kind of sad.”

“One of the most important parts after a hurricane, help your neighbors clean up,” Wayne Cichocki said. “Help out each other.”

“Be a Good Samaritan,” he continued.

that's awesome to help one another and then there are people who have family that don't bother at all to help, some people are all for themselves and then you have the good people we need so much more of.
