HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Holmes Beach, the city located on Anna Maria Island, sustained “severe damage” from Hurricane Helene, officials announced Friday morning.

According to the Holmes Beach Police Department, the island is without water or power, and many roads are still underwater.

Until crews can clear the roadways and determine that they are safe, no one is allowed back onto the island.

Police said once the roads are cleared, residents with re-entry tags will be the only individuals allowed to return.

On Longboat Key, the first floor of a home has several feet of water inside. Couches are seen knocked over and submerged, while the backyard of the home is covered in debris.
