Shelters are still open at this time, and a transition shelter will be open once plans are finalized by the City of Brooksville, Red Cross, and Hernando County Emergency Management.

Debri pick-up will be available for communities on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

John Allocco, County Commissioner District 3 asks residents to separate their debris by landscape, appliances, and house goods.

Pine Island Drive and Shoreline Drive will be closed until further notice due to flooding and four boats pushed onto Shoreline Drive, according to Decarlo.

“The water is receding, it is receding as we speak, high tide is at about 9:38 today, but it will be receding as the day progresses,” Decarlo said.

Major Phil Lakin with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said crews will be sent door to door to make sure everyone is safe on the beach.

If residents have any questions about the storm they are asked to call the Public Information Center at 352-754-4083.
