VIDEO: Hurricane Helene brings high surf and destruction to Florida

GULFPORT, Fla. (WFLA) — The U.S. Coast Guard saved a man near Gulfport on Friday after Hurricane Helene after his sailboat became disabled.

Crews rescued the man after he tried to swim ashore on Friday from his sailboat.

Officials warned of rip currents and high winds due to Helene.

A few hours north, a video shows the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on Horseshoe Beach.

The video shows the destruction Hurricane Helene left behind. Debris throughout the area and personal belongings were scattered through the tree line.
