TAMPA, Fla. (WFLFA) — A precautionary boil water notice was issued for Anna Maria Island and the barrier islands in Sarasota County on Saturday following the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

    Anna Maria Island

“After surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Helene during water restoration, Manatee County Utilities has issued a Boil Water Advisory for residents of Anna Maria Island for drinking water only,” Manatee County officials said in a press release.

Officials said the advisory doesn’t mean the water is contaminated but could be contaminated.

Since the water quality is unknown, residents should assume that the water is unsafe to drink and should take the appropriate precautions.

Boiled water will be available at a distribution site at BT Bray Park located at 5502 33rd Avenue Drive West in Bradenton daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Sarasota County

As the county restores water to the barrier islands, the areas are under a precautionary boil water notice. Sarasota advises residents to boil all tap water intended for drinking, preparator of food, washing food utensils and for first aid.
