SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — As recovery efforts continue across Sarasota following Hurricane Helene, officials are asking residents to avoid two beaches.

    Siesta Key

Sarasota County Government said public utilities staff are working to restore water in all areas, as Siesta Key remains on a boil water notice on Monday.

“The beaches are unsafe as there is still storm debris in addition to erosion in many areas.”

Those who are not residents or business owners on the island are asked to allow time for repair and cleanup before officials open the island back up for visitors.

There are also no lifeguards present on the public beaches.

    Lido Beach

Officials are asking residents to avoid south and north Lido Beach, as recovery efforts are being disrupted by people trying to get on the beach.

“If you do not have to be in the area, please stay away.”

Sarasota County is reminding residents that all amenities on Lido Beach are closed and that no lifeguards are on duty. The beach may have unseen hazards.
