INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Communities across Tampa Bay have been teaming up to provide much needed supplies to those recovering from Hurricane Helene.

A fishing community in Pinellas County has gathered items over the past few days and has set up donation locations at Indian Rocks Beach and Redington Shores.

“No matter what they’re going through, they’re here helping everybody,” Pinellas County Resident and Angler Sara Salt said. “I just cannot thank the community enough.”

On Monday, residents could simply walk up to the donation locations and take whatever they needed for free.

“If we’re able to give to the community, we absolutely should,” Pinellas County Resident and Volunteer Laura Robinson said.

While they have been providing water and food, volunteers said they are focusing on providing cleaning supplies like mops, brooms, shovels and gloves.

“The stuff that people need to start picking up the pieces to rebuild your lives,” Robinson said.

Sara Salt said they are in need of a captain that would be willing to gather donations on the mainland before bringing them over to the barrier islands. If you or someone you know is interested email SaraSaltAU@gmail.com
