BRADENTON, Fla. (BLOOM) – Residents and businesses south of 9th Avenue East and north of 26th Avenue East in Bradenton are experiencing a water outage following a major water main break, officials said Wednesday. The affected area spans from 17th Street East to 27th Street East.

The City of Bradenton Public Works and Utilities Department reported that crews clamped the pipe to reduce water flow, but repairs cannot be fully completed at this time due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Milton. With the storm approaching, repair work has been suspended until conditions are safe for crews to resume.

Residents are advised to stock up on water ahead of the storm or relocate to one of Manatee County’s emergency shelters. Shelter locations can be found at www.mymanatee.org/storm .

Officials emphasized that repairing the water main is a top priority and will resume as soon as conditions allow. The city urges residents to stay informed by visiting www.cityofbradenton.com/storm or following @BradentonGov on social media for continuous updates.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate everyone’s patience during this challenging time,” the Public Works Department said in a statement.
