    Sarasota issues shelter in place warning

    SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Sarasota County officials have issued a shelter-in-place warning for all residents.

    The county government posted the warning on X , the platform formerly known as Twitter, at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

    “It is no longer safe to be on the roadways. Individuals SHOULD NOT go out on the roadways. They should now SHELTER IN PLACE. There are reports of flooding and it is not safe to be out on the road for the duration of the storm.”

    Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall Wednesday night.
