Rescue operations begin across Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — After Hurricane Milton made landfall Wednesday night in Siesta Key as a Category 3 storm, rescue operations have already begun.

Pinellas County

Clearwater police rescue people and pets in Milton floodwaters.

Clearwater police begin assessing damage and clearing the roadways.

Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was rescuing residents at the Great American assisted-living facility in Tampa.

HCSO deployed assets from Raymond James Stadium to start their recovery efforts.

Around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies were also in Town N Country, moving people to safety.
