TAMPA, Fla. (October 10, 2024) — In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton , many Florida communities are left grappling with severe damage and urgent rescue needs. FloridaHelp.Live , a newly launched, volunteer-driven platform, is stepping up to connect rescuers with those in immediate danger. The website is under the umbrella of non-profit Hurricanehelpflorida.org .

FloridaHelp.Live is a free, grassroots resource designed to mobilize individuals—especially those equipped with boats or high-water vehicles—to assist with rescue efforts across the state. Volunteers can quickly register through the platform’s “Sign Up to Help Others” link, which matches them with those needing rescue. The platform operates independently of government entities, making it an agile, community-based solution to the urgent needs brought on by Hurricane Milton.

“We’re grateful for the incredible spirit of community and cooperation during this time,” said Kristen Seeley , co-founder of FloridaHelp.Live. “By coming together, we can make a real difference in saving lives and supporting our neighbors.”

    How FloridaHelp.Live Works

Volunteers who have essential resources, such as boats or trucks capable of navigating flooded areas, can sign up via the platform. Once registered, they are matched with individuals needing rescue. FloridaHelp.Live encourages anyone able to assist to register and prepare for deployment as the storm’s impact continues to unfold.

    Important Reminders:

    • If you are in immediate danger , call 911 first . If a volunteer rescuer reaches you before emergency services, please notify 911 that you are safe.
    • Only request assistance if it’s critically needed, allowing the platform to prioritize those in the most dangerous situations.

As Hurricane Milton’s effects become clearer, FloridaHelp.Live’s mission remains focused on supporting communities in distress through organized rescue efforts.

    Join the Hurricane Warriors

For those interested in joining the recovery efforts but unable to assist with rescues, FloridaHelp.Live has launched the Hurricane Warriors program. Volunteers can text 813-434-1464 to join the group and receive updates on how to help with recovery efforts.

    Free Recovery Resources for Homeowners

In addition to rescue efforts, FloridaHelp.Live and Hurricane Help Florida are offering free gutting and recovery services to homeowners in the Greater Tampa Bay area. With a team of over 250 volunteers ready to assist, homeowners can request recovery support, such as home repairs, debris removal, and rebuilding.

Residents can access these services by filling out the Free Homeowner Assistance Request Form or visiting the Hurricane Help Florida Free Resources page . These resources are crucial for families navigating the complex rebuilding process after the storm.
