TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The U.S. Coast Guard has located two people who went boating to Tarpon Springs to avoid Hurricane Milton.

The U.S. Coast Guard announced that the Air Station Miami crew located the two and the vessel, which was making way on its own power approximately 50 miles off Gasparilla Pass a little after midnight.

USCG wants to remind boaters cell phones are not reliable at sea and always have a radio.

USCG Sector St. Pete said Andreas Gabriel Kirchberger and Kenneth Thomas Ruetzel were seen Tuesday leaving Charlotte Harbor for Tarpon Springs.

The boat is either called Heldenberg or Queen Milania, officials said.
