SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) will be closed until Wednesday after losing the entire roof over Concourse B during Hurricane Milton.

Concourse B houses the TSA screening checkpoint and all 13 aircraft loading gate hold rooms.

The airport hopes to resume commercial flights at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

The 76,000-square-foot roof was damaged, leading to water coming through the gate areas.

Tampa International Airport reopens at 8 a.m. Friday

SRQ is working with recovery contractors to install a temporary roof while planning permanent repairs. Extensive clean-up and remediation efforts are underway in the affected areas.

Additionally, storm debris from the roof was scattered across the aircraft ramp, posing a hazard to jet engines.

    Operational Updates

    • Rental Cars: Airport rental car counters, located in the baggage claim area, reopened at noon Friday. Passengers should check directly with their rental car company for availability.
    • Parking: The airport’s parking lots are open and operational for those needing to access their vehicles.
    • General Aviation Flights: The airfield will reopened for general aviation flights at noon Friday, however, there is no fuel available at this time. General aviation refers to private aircraft.

SRQ officials said in a news release they appreciate passengers’ understanding as recovery efforts continue.
