ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The stingrays at Tropicana Field have moved to a new home after the stadium sustained significant damage from Hurricane Milton last week.

The roof of the Trop was torn to shreds as Milton made landfall Wednesday evening.

Although the animals were safe in their enclosure, the seven cownose stingrays were relocated to The Florida Aquarium in downtown Tampa.

Now, they are living in the aquarium’s Stingray Beach exhibit on the second floor.

“We’re pleased to report the cownose stingrays handled the storm well. With the Tampa Bay Rays support, our staff was able to provide onsite care over the past several days and today, we brought them safely back to the Aquarium,” The Florida Aquarium’s Associate Curator Craig Johnson said. “We will continue to monitor their health over the coming days, but currently, all are eating and behaving normally.”

Located off the right-center field, the stingrays were housed in a 10,000-gallon, 35-foot habitat.
