    Missing 7-year-old Orlando boy found dead near his home

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 7-year-old boy who went missing from his Orlando home on Monday was found dead on Tuesday.

    Emerson Felix was last seen at 6:45 p.m. on Monday in the area of the 1700 block of Flintshire Street in Orlando, which is near Rio Grand Avenue and 40th Street, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

    The child was found dead in a body of water near his home, the sheriff’s office announced Tuesday morning.

    “We mourn Emerson’s loss and extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, his classmates and all who love him,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media.

    Orange County detectives are investigating his disappearance and death.
