The district said school-based and district staff will be going back Wednesday to prepare facilities for the students’ arrival.

As of Tuesday morning, 35 schools did not have power, but officials said the schools should come back online in the next 36 hours.

“School-based and district staff, with help from countless volunteers, made tremendous progress yesterday cleaning up campuses from the damage from Hurricane Milton,” the district said.

In addition to reopening, the district announced that the first quarter will extend to Friday, Oct. 25 to give students enough time to complete the grading period.

“Our Academic Services team is reviewing the calendar to determine necessary adjustments to make up the required instructional time and we will communicate that at a later date,” the release said.
