TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A strong cold front passes through the Tampa Bay area early this morning. There’s just a 10% chance of a shower along that front before 9am. The bigger impact will be the colder air that rushes in behind it. Highs only reach the upper 70s early this afternoon, and with a chilly breeze from the north all day, it will feel even cooler.

Once the sun sets this evening, temperatures drop quickly. (Sunset tonight is 6:59pm.) We fall through the 60s in the evening, and overnight lows will be in the mid-upper 50s. That’s 10-15 degrees below average. The cool breeze continues, so it still feels cooler.

Lots of sunshine tomorrow, but it stays cool and breezy with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

We gradually warm back up for the end of the week. Highs return to the mid 80s for the weekend.

It stays breezy and rain-free through Saturday. We add in just 10% chances for a quick afternoon shower next week, but most of us stay warm and dry.

We are still tracking the two tropical waves: one in the Atlantic and one in the Caribbean. Both will head west, but they should have no impact on Florida.
