Clearwater woman turns Walmart scratch-off ticket into $1 million win

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas County woman took home a $1 million prize in a scratch-off game on Wednesday.

The Florida Lottery announced that Shawandra Nichols, 48, of Clearwater won a big prize in the $1,000,000 a Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game.

Nichols purchased the winning ticket from a Walmart located at 1803 Highland Avenue in Clearwater. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $50 scratch-off game has two top prizes of $1 million a year for life, along with 234 prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning a prize are 1-in-4.5.
