ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A man killed during a bus versus scooter crash in St. Petersburg had turned 65 the day of the collision, the St. Petersburg Police Department said Wednesday.

Around 11:12 a.m. on Tuesday, a PSTA bus traveling westbound in the curb lane on 22nd Avenue North began to cross south to north when the 65-year-old man on a motorized scooter attempted to cross the trail crosswalk and was struck by the bus.

Investigators said the PSTA bus failed to yield to pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk.

The victim was taken to St. Petersburg Hospital where he died from his injuries. His identity has not been revealed.

None of the 10 passengers on the bus were injured.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
