    NHC monitors 2 disturbances, neither expected to hit U.S.

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A disturbance in the Caribbean Sea is expected to bring rainfall to portions of Central America and southern Mexico over the weekend, the National Hurricane Center said.

    Some gradual development of this system is possible over the next few days as it moves inland over Central America.

    The chance of Formation in the next 48 hours is 20%.

    Red tide outbreak blossoms off Tampa Bay

    A disturbance located east of the Leeward Islands could slowly develop as it moves quickly westward.

    The disturbance is expected to pass near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Friday, according to the NHC.

    Strong levels of wind are expected to end the chances of development over the weekend.

    The chance of formation in the next 48 hours is 20% with a 30% chance in the next seven days.
