    Palm Harbor man strikes 2 road workers with SUV, drives away: FHP

    PALM HARBOR, Fla. (WFLA) — A Palm Harbor man was arrested after striking two road workers with an SUV on Friday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

    Workers were fixing a washed-out roadway at Lake St. George Drive north of Tampa Road when the vehicle drove around a construction barrier and collided with two people.

    The victims, both 49-year-old men from Pinellas County, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

    The suspect, Charles Edward Kunath, 68, sped away from the area, according to FHP. He was later arrested at his home in Palm Harbor.

    Kunath was charged with attempted vehicular homicide, aggravated battery involving a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of a crash with injury, reckless driving involving serious injury and several traffic violations.
