Tampa residents might see changes to their utility bills due to Hurricane Milton

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of Tampa is informing residents that their future utility bills will be impacted by Hurricane Milton.

Due to debris interfering with city officials’ ability to read water meters, some customers will receive an estimated bill based on average daily usage over the past 12 months.

“Customers who receive an estimated bill will eventually have their meters read, and the actual cumulative consumption will be reconciled,” the city said in a statement. “There will be no late fees applied for any charges billed during this period. City of Tampa Utilities will provide an update as soon as conditions improve and allow staff to read meters and bill utility accounts as normal.”

Anyone with a question regarding their utility bill can call the Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
