GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay women’s basketball team has announced its 2024-25 nonconference schedule.

The schedule consists of 11 contests: GB will host five games and play six on the road, including three at the recently announced Puerto Rico Shootout over Thanksgiving weekend.

GB’s nonconference schedule is tough. It boasts five teams that ended the year inside the top 100 in the NCAA’s NET rankings and five teams that made the NCAA Tournament. Eight of the 11 opponents played in the postseason last year.

Green Bay’s first action on the hardwood this season, under first-year Head Coach Kayla Karius, is slated for Monday, November 4, on the road against Kansas State. GB is 2-4 all-time against the Wildcats. It’s been a while since the Phoenix has seen K-State, beating KSU 68-56 at home on December 5, 2007.

The Wildcats finished 19th in the Associated Press Top-25 poll last year and were ranked as high as number two, taking down Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes on November 16, 2023.

GB will have its first home game of the 2024-25 campaign on November 9 versus Northern Iowa, an opponent Green Bay saw last season.

The Phoenix will head back on the road for two more contests, first against former Horizon League foe UIC on November 13 before visiting North Dakota on the 17.

GB returns home to clash against the DePaul Blue Demons, a Power 5 team from the Big East, on November 21. Green Bay will seek to avenge a 64-68 loss to DePaul last season.?

The Phoenix will follow up that matchup with a trip to Puerto Rico, where GB will battle Virginia (Nov. 28), Drake (Nov. 29), and Norfolk State (Nov. 30) at the Puerto Rico Shootout. All games are slated for a noon central tip-off.

Virginia completed the 2023-24 season 16-16 overall but played a majority of its games against AP Top-25 ranked teams, tallying four wins against such teams. Drake secured the MVC (Missouri Valley Conference) title and made the NCAA Tournament, while Norfolk State is coming off a 27-6 season and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Green Bay hosts a trio of games in mid-December, beginning with Creighton on the 14th. The Phoenix defeated Creighton last season in Omaha, representing the first of two upsets over AP Top-25 ranked opponents. GB hosts Ripon College on December 19 and Parkside on Dec. 21 to conclude non-conference action.

The Horizon League schedule is expected to be released in the coming weeks, and season ticket information will also be available in the near future.
