GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – As the NFL’s 3 p.m. 53-man roster deadline struck on Tuesday, the Packers announced a flurry of moves to get down to the league’s mandatory roster size.

Likely the most significant of those moves was placing running back AJ Dillon on injured reserve , with no designation to return. As a result, Dillon will miss the entirety of the 2024 season, along with tight end Tyler Davis, who was also placed on IR without a return designation.

Dillon did not play in the third and final preseason game, battling a neck injury, and missed the final three games of the 2023-24 season with a similar injury. He posted 613 rushing yards and two scores in 15 games last season.

With Dillon out for the year, quarterback Jordan Love is the only player remaining from the Packers’ 2020 draft class who will play for the team this season, according to Local 5’s Kyle Malzhan .

The 2020 second-round pick has accumulated 2,428 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in his four seasons in Green Bay. Dillon signed a one-year deal this past offseason to stay with the team, but will likely hit the free agency market again in 2025.

The Packers still roster three running backs at the moment, with 2024 signee Josh Jacobs, 2024 draftee MarShawn Lloyd and Emmanuel Wilson making the initial 53-man roster.
