GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In the latest series of roster moves from the Green Bay Packers, the team has opted to release kicker Greg Joseph and claim Tennessee Titans kicker Brayden Narveson.

While the Packers weren’t convinced that Anders Carlson or Greg Joseph could do the job, they took a different approach just weeks before their first game in São Paulo against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Green Bay claimed Narveson, who had an excellent preseason and made six of seven field goal attempts. Last year at North Carolina State, Narveson went 18 for 23 on field goals and was a perfect 38 for 38 on extra points. Narveson never missed an extra point through his collegiate career, going 196 for 196.

The Green & Gold also signed twelve players to their practice squad, including former backup quarterback Sean Clifford. Clifford and rookie Michael Pratt were competing for the backup role during the preseason, but again, Green Bay wasn’t convinced either of them could get the job done, so they opted to trade for quarterback Malik Willis, who arguably has a better upside than both Clifford and Pratt.

Defensive lineman Deslin Alexandre, defensive lineman James Ester, kicker Alex Hale, wide receiver Julian Hicks, offensive lineman Donovan Jennings, cornerback Kalen King, running back Nate McCrary, running back Ellis Merriweather, cornerback Robert Rochell, offensive lineman Lecitus Smith, tight end Messiah Swinson, and wide receiver Jalen Wayne were signed to the practice squad.

Wide receiver Grant DuBose, a former seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers, was among the tougher cuts in camp. Although the Green & Gold were hoping to get him back on the practice squad, the Miami Dolphins claimed him.

Other Packers who were cut and claimed by other teams include defensive back Anthony Johnson, who was claimed by the New York Giants, and offensive lineman Royce Newman, who was claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
