UPDATE: Manitowoc District Attorney charges Baur & Vang with Elijah Vue’s death

TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WFRV) — Authorities in Two Rivers have released new information regarding the death of Elijah Vue, who was missing for months before being found dead in a wooded area on Sept. 7, 2024.

During a press conference, Manitowoc District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre announced charges against Jesse Vang and Katrina Baur in connection with Vue’s death.

Jesse Vang is charged with physical abuse of a child causing death, hiding a corpse, and obstructing an officer. Katrina Baur, Elijah Vue’s biological mother, faces charges of chronic neglect of a child where the consequence is death, child neglect, and obstructing an officer.

“This is an incredibly tragic situation that has shaken our community,” District Attorney LaBre said. “My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Elijah’s family for enduring an unimaginable pain.”

LaBre emphasized that Elijah was a young boy whose life was tragically cut short. His death has affected not only his loved ones but also the Two Rivers community, the Two Rivers Police Department, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and other agencies involved in the investigation.

“Our priority has always been to ensure a fair and just process, and today’s announcement is a reflection of our commitment to upholding the law and seeking justice for Elijah,” LaBre concluded.
