    Orange County to pause its development ‘pause,’ pushes Vision 2050 release

    Orange County will temporarily allow specific development applications again, suspending its zoning-in-progress ordinance, after pushing back the release date for its new comprehensive plan to spring 2025.

    In May, the county passed the ordinance to prevent new projects while it hammers out Vision 2050. At the time, Olan Hill, assistant manager of the county’s planning division, defined the ordinance as a “pause,” in contrast to a moratorium.

    The plan was to lift the pause after releasing Vision 2050, scheduled to be voted on in a public hearing in October.
