Pinpoint Weather: Mostly dry, warm start to the week

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Seasonably warm and mostly dry conditions are anticipated across Southwest and Central Virginia for the start of the week.

High pressure over the Ohio Valley will result in quiet and dry weather across the region on Monday. Due to the low humidity levels, the day will start with cool morning temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies overhead with highs in the near-average upper 70s and lower/middle 80s.

An area of low pressure over South Carolina may spark some isolated showers in Southwest and Central Virginia on Tuesday especially south of U.S. 460. However, it won’t be a washout out. A mix of sun and clouds will be overhead with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Mainly dry conditions are slated for Wednesday and Thursday. Morning lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s while afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and lower.middle 80s. Isolated showers and storms cannot be ruled out for late Thursday.

Scattered showers and storms will return to the forecast for the end of the week. Temperatures will remain close to average.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

Potential Tropical Cyclone Five is moving westward at 25 mph. The disturbance is expected to move across the Leeward Islands on Tuesday before approaching the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Tuesday evening. This system could become a tropical storm on Tuesday.

The next name for the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is Ernesto.
