ROANOKE, Va. ( W F XR ) – As a cold front approaches the region, showers and storms are expected to return. Rain may move into the region around midday on Friday and continue into the late evening hours.

On Friday, the main severe weather threat will stay west of the region. An areawide threat for strong to severe storm is expected on Saturday as the front enters. The main threat will be strong, gusty winds.

Rainfall should remain light, except in thunderstorms, which will produce locally heavy rain. On average, less than half of an inch is expected through Thursday.
