    Pinpoint Weather: Brief taste of fall in August

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — High pressure will control Southwest and Central Virginia for the remainder of the week. Mostly dry weather will remain in the forecast with cooler-than-average temperatures sticking around through Friday.

    It will be a fall-like start to Wednesday with morning temperatures starting in the crisp 40s and 50s. More sunshine is expected across the region with afternoon temperatures reaching the mild 70s.

    Weather-wise, Thursday will be similar to Wednesday. Morning temperatures will start in the 40s and 50s before warming up into the 70s by the afternoon. A few spots in Southside could hit the 80-degree mark.

    While the mainly dry weather will stick around, a warming trend will begin on Friday. Mostly to partly sunny skies will be overhead on Friday with highs in the slightly warmer upper 70s and lower 80s.

    Temperatures will be closer to average on Saturday and Sunday. Each day will start with morning temperatures in the 50s and lower 60s. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the 80s under a mix of sun and clouds. Humidity levels will begin to increase, as well.

    More heat is forecast for the beginning of next week. For Monday and Tuesday, highs will be in the 80s and lower 90s with muggy air in place. Isolated showers and storms will have the chance to develop each day.
