    Pinpoint Weather: Dry and mild weather continues

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — High pressure will continue to control Southwest and Central Virginia for the next few days. While the mostly dry pattern will persist, a warming trend is ahead.

    Patchy mountain and river valley fog is possible on Thursday morning as temperatures start in the 40s and lower 50s. More sunshine is in the forecast for the day with afternoon temperatures rising into the cooler-than-average 70s and lower 80s.

    High pressure will shift east on Friday, directing south winds into the region. Air from the south is typically warm and moist. Morning temperatures will start in the 40s and 50s before reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s by the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies will be overhead.

    Temperatures and humidity levels will gradually increase over the weekend. Each day will start with morning temperatures in the 50s and lower 60s. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the 80s under mostly to partly sunny skies.

    Hot and muggy weather is anticipated for the first half of the upcoming week. Highs will be in the 80s and lower 90s Monday through Wednesday. Morning lows will mainly be in the 60s. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will have the chance to develop each afternoon and evening.
