ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — High pressure will remain in control of Southwest and Central Virginia, meaning the dry weather will stick around for the next few days. However, summer heat and humidity will gradually return.

The area of high pressure will shift to our east on Friday, directing warm and moist south winds into the region. Morning temperatures will start in the upper 40s and 50s before reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s by the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies will be overhead.

It will feel more like summer for the weekend. Each day will start with morning temperatures in the 50s and lower 60s. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the 80s under mostly to partly sunny skies.

Stay cool and hydrated if you’re heading to the Bedford County Fair or the Roanoke Wing Fest. Remember to sunscreen, too!

Hot and muggy weather is anticipated for the upcoming week. Highs will be in the 80s and lower 90s Monday through Thursday. Morning lows will mainly be in the 60s and lower 70s. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will have the chance to develop each afternoon and evening.
