ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — Stay cool and hydrated! Hot and muggy conditions will impact Southwest and Central Virginia through the middle of the week.

High pressure will keep the region mostly dry, but a warming trend will occur over the next few days. For Monday, morning temperatures will start in the 50s and 60s. A few passing clouds are possible, but skies will generally be mostly sunny. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Increasing heat and humidity are slated for Tuesday and Wednesday. For Tuesday, afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 80s and lower/middle 90s under mostly to partly sunny skies. Our hottest day will be Wednesday as highs will be in the 90s area-wide. Heat index values near 100 are possible. A few stray showers and storms cannot be ruled out, but many locations will stay mostly dry.

A nearby cold front will spark scattered showers and storms on Thursday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower/middle 90s.
