Pinpoint Weather: Strong storms possible Thursday

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — Showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread on Thursday. Storms couple begin to pop up around noon and continue into the late evening hours.

A few storms during the afternoon and evening hours could become strong to severe. Initially, storms may pose a large hail threat before transitioning to a wind threat.

Storms could bring locally heavy rain. Up to an inch of rain is expected to fall over the next week. Most of that will occur on Thursday.

Due to the rain and increased cloud cover, temperatures will be slightly cooler on Thursday. The day will start with temperatures in the 60s and 70s, rising into the 80s and 90s for the afternoon.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler for the Friday and holiday weekend with highs in the 80s. Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue. Cooler air arrives on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s.
