    Jury finds man guilty of 2022 murder of Gretna man, sheriff says

    PITTSLYVANIA COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office announced a man has been convicted for the murder of Gretna man, 51-year-old Charles Va Hooker that occurred in February 2022.

    On Wednesday, August 28, a Pittsylvania County Jury found Daniel Wayne Neal guilty of Murder in the First Degree, Statutory Burglary, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

    ORIGNINAL REPORTING: Man found dead inside Pittsylvania County home, authorities investigating as homicide

    Charles Hooker was found by first responders on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022. Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s deputies were called to his home on the 1300 block of Boxwood Road and found him dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

    The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of this Office, Investigators with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance with this investigation.

    The sheriff says Neal will be sentenced at a later date. WFXR News will update you with more information as it becomes available.
